Following sensational allegations by Gatundu south Member of the National Assembly, Moses Kuria, that Martha Karua led a team to execute a scheme which framed Deputy President, William Ruto at the ICC, Raila Odinga has called for the arrest of those who perpetrated the scheme.
In a statement which extensively quoted the provision of domestic criminal law and the International Crimes Act, Odinga wants the Director of Public Prosecution to urgently arrest and charge those responsible for obstruction of justice, perjury and fabricating evidence.
Kuria has maintained that Karua was the leader of the scheme to concoct evidence and procure false witnesses against Ruto, despite Karua’s threats to sue him. Karua denies knowing Kuria, and calls on Ruto to desist from bringing her name into the controversy surrounding the ICC cases. The deputy president has not made any comment in connection with the latest iteration of the ICC debate, and has not referred to Karua in any statement or comment. The effect of Odinga’s statement is to focus the spotlight on the particulars of Karua’s role in connection with the ICC cases..
